About Me
- Name: Dr. B
- Location: Metro Atlanta Area, Georgia, United States
I have been an educator at various levels, from k-12 and museums to higher education since 1993. I received my B.A. from the University of Mississippi, my M.A. from the University of Alabama and my Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. In November 2008, I was selected out of more than 10,000 teachers as the District Teacher of the Year for Gwinnett County Public Schools, the fifteenth largest school system in the United States. In April 2009 I was also named as the National Art Honor Society Sponsor of the Year by NAEA. In 2010 I was named The Great American Teacher of the Year by Great American Financial in conjunction with the Ron Clark Academy. Out of more than 6000 nominees, I was thoroughly excited and surprised to be the only Georgia teacher included among the five finalists for this national award. I still cannot believe I was the national winner and that my students and I got to appear on CNN and PBS.
